Red hair color hues are all the rage this fall. If you have never considered red hair, you might want to reconsider. From crimson red to apple cider to burnt copper to strawberry blonde, there is a red shade for everyone.
The fiery hues of the past, like Lucille Ball’s flame red hair, have given way to the sleek sophistication of Nicole Kidman’s natural red tresses.
“Natural redheads make up only 2% of the population, so our hair stylists have the products and techniques to color your hair a beautiful shade of red that is more unique,” says Corinne Calabro, owner of Cory’s Hair Studio & Day Spa.
“Though called redheads, those with natural red hair actually have more copper tones than what you think of as red,” adds Lindsay Adler, who has been a hairstylist for 20 years and specializes in hair color techniques at Cory’s. “There are so many different hues of red, so I consult with clients to find the perfect color to complement their features and tell them to always keep in mind their skin tone when picking out hair color. Those with darker skin tones tend to look better with auburn or mahogany shades, and those with lighter skin tones look good in copper, ginger and strawberry blonde.”
Though some people have red hair year-round, fall provides inspiration for many to change their hair color. Just like the leaves that turn orange and red in the fall, a new hair color helps you transition from season to season.
“If you don’t want to take the plunge and become a full redhead, we can add accent pieces or highlights for a new fall look,” says Lindsay. “Red can boost confidence and enhance your features.”
Lindsay notes that reds tend to fade quicker than other colors, so at-home hair care is essential to keep your color bright and shiny. The salon carries Keep Me Vivid shampoo and conditioner from Matrix to give you that just-walked-out-of-the-salon hair.
A full-service salon and spa, Cory’s Hair Studio & Day Spa offers a full menu of color services including highlights, color accents, color melt, ombre and balayage color.
Fantasy Color
If you want to kick your color up a notch, Cory’s Hair Studio & Day Spa offers Matrix SoColor Cult, which features vibrant shades in semi-permanent, demi-permanent and permanent colors.
From bubblegum pink to lavender macaron to clover green to stonewashed denim, fantasy colors make a bold statement. New in the salon this fall are neon colors that even are brighter and shinier.
“For the fall, we are getting requests for royal purple and red-hot colors,” says hairstylist Lindsay Adler. “We can apply all-over color or just add strands of fun color to give you a new look.”
And the best part? Matrix has a Color Eraser that allows the hairstylist to remove the color when you are ready to change your look.
“The fantasy color stains the hair instead of changing the hair color, so it keeps your hair in good condition,” notes Lindsay. “Depending on how dark or light the color and how often you shampoo your hair, these fantasy colors can last four to six weeks.”
